Our travels continued on to Bolivia where we stayed in La Paz. We bused in from Peru but took an .. let's say .. an interesting route. We transferred buses at the border and took a ferry across Lake Titicaca at Tiquina. It was apparently a safer route than the roads that go around the lake, though the ferry boats were quite questionable. I had to sneak into the hull of the boat because it was overfull of people. Some rubes, some locals. A good mix of fools. Sans safety equipment, sans life jacket, as per usual. It's all good fun!

One of the highlights of Bolivia was Death Road; the famous route from La Paz to the Amazon jungle that has taken countless lives. It's a bit safer now because of a new safer route is available which all motorists use.. except the day we decided to fly down it on janky bikes. The safer route experienced a mudslide during the night before and was closed, so all traffic was routed through the Death Road. Yay. I must say though, this was one of the best experiences I'll probably ever have. Fun, thrilling, stunning views.
One interesting thing about South America .. legal coca plants and all their legal forms! Note, cocaine is illegal.
We did all of our shopping in La Paz because everything was really cheap. Got a couple sweet Alpaca sweaters and an Alpaca scarf for about $25.
